"Wheels to Work" Program

City of Faith Church is please to offer "Wheel to Work" as a life changing car program called to transforms lives by selling reliable used cars at a fraction of actual value to pre-qualified, low-wage families while providing maximum tax deductions to car donors all to the glory of God.

“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”  Acts 20:35

City of Faith Church's "Wheel to Work" program began as a prayer group of men and women from City of Faith Church to address the vision of Pastor Sabra to bring the “dignity of work” to those who – for whatever reason – may never have had the opportunity to understand or fully embrace the concept. The City of Faith "Wheels to Work" program is managed by the members of City of Faith of Houston. The objective of the "Wheels to Work"  program is concentrated on getting people to work by providing them adequate transportation at an fraction of market value.  Since Houston is the largest land mass county in the nation, this effort is intended to meet the needs of working families who must transport children to daycare before starting their job.  It also broadens the types of work and the available shifts which may be worked.

Affordable transportation for the marginally employable is quite limited.  Some “buy-here / pay here” lots are notorious for selling cars with limited or non-existent warranties and high interest rates to those who are poor or may not have an established credit record.  Conventional car dealers are less interested in selling cars in the price range we anticipate (under $700- see Donate that Clunker Page).

The goal of the "Wheels to Work" program  is to make available affordable and reliable transportation for the “marginally employable”, that is, persons who do not ostensibly possess or are able to demonstrate a steady or consistent employment history by reason of:

  • a pattern of welfare dependency;

  • a history of alcoholism and/or drug abuse or divorce attributable to marital abuse;

  • a recent release from incarceration; or

  • partial disability, handicap or mental impairment.

In short, City of Faith Church has created the the "Wheels to Work" program to help those in need obtain a vehicle in order to re-build or better their quality of life. Awards are presented in December to begin Janaury of the New Year. Winners are announced Sunday's in December at City of Faith Church of Houston's 10am worship experience
